At C.L. Frates and Company we value the security and confidentiality of health information. We have always operated our programs with an emphasis on privacy, and in compliance with federal and state privacy laws. Our implementation of the new HIPAA privacy requirements simply strengthens our existing commitment to the confidentiality of health information that arises from the physician-patient relationship.

One noticeable change in our service to clients will be identity verification protocols that are encountered when clients access telephone customer service. For our large plans these procedures are already in place. All other plans will be brought into compliance in early 2004. We are confident that these protocols will not interfere with our service capabilities.
